George Putney

Community Partnerships Coordinator

After spending over 25 years in the corporate world in a variety of sales and customer service roles George decided to pursue a secondary career in social work. The first step in this career change involved the pursuit of a master’s degree in social work. George graduated from the Brown School at Washington University with his MSW in August 2025. While in school George followed his passion to assist justice involved individuals by working for the Washington University Prison Education Project and Keyway Center for Diversion and Reentry.

George joined Keyway as the Community Partnerships Coordinator in November 2025. He is focused on working with Keyway employment and housing partners to meet the needs of Keyway program participants. His experience in the housing market as a former landlord, a homeowner, and as someone that recently rented an apartment will foster a balanced approach between housing providers and potential tenants.

George also has a diverse skill set related to employment. He obtained an MBA from St. Louis University to enhance his business knowledge. His experience working in a wide variety of industries, interviewing hundreds of potential job candidates, and building teams within organizations will lend itself to effective and efficient employment matches. His entrepreneurial skills as a former small business owner will promote collaboration and guidance for Keyway program participants.

George has a long history of community involvement and working in charitable endeavors. He was on the board of Shelter the Children and Covenant House for 11 years and served on the School Board at Bishop Dubourg High School. He also coached boys’ basketball for 20 years. George continues to volunteer for the Washington University Prison Education Project. His volunteer efforts and current work are done with the goal of ensuring success for justice involved individuals as they reenter our communities.
